Privacy notice
What we collect, why, and how long we keep it. Plain English, no surprises.
SimValue UK (“we”) runs simvalue.co.uk. We collect as little as we can. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you have a question or want to use your data rights, email hello@simvalue.co.uk.
Sale reports
- What we store: the product, the price, whether you sold or bought it, its condition, what was included, the date of the sale, where it was sold, and the listing link if you give one.
- Your email (optional): used only to ask you about your report if we need to check something. It is deleted as soon as the report has been reviewed, whether we accept it or not. It is never published, shared or added to a mailing list.
- Your IP address: we never store it as it is. We keep a scrambled version (a salted hash) only to stop spam and limit submissions to 10 a day, and we delete it within 30 days.
- What we publish: only combined figures, such as a typical price and range, and only once a product has at least 5 checked reports. Your individual report, email and link are never shown.
- Why: to build fair, public used prices, which is our legitimate interest and the reason you sent the report.
Newsletter
- Our weekly price round-up is sent by Kit (ConvertKit), which stores your email address for us. The sign-up form is loaded from Kit, so Kit sees your browser details when it loads.
- Sign-up is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. You can also ask us to delete your address.
- We only send the newsletter with your consent, and we never share your address with sponsors or shops.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. It may set a strictly necessary security cookie. We do not use these logs to identify you.
Affiliate links
Some links to shops may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, the shop may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. The shop or affiliate network may use a cookie to record the referral, under its own privacy policy. Commissions never change the prices we show.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email hello@simvalue.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
